Yes. We can include asset tagging as part of our inspection service to help you maintain clear and trackable records of your fire doors and firestopping systems.
What is your survey process?
Do you conduct quarterly and annual checks?
Our process is straightforward and transparent:

  3. We issue a quotation for your review.
  4. Once you approve the quotation and place the order, we schedule the start date.
  5. Our certified team conducts the inspection.

Yes, we offer both quarterly and annual re-inspections to ensure ongoing compliance and safety standards are maintained.
What is your mobilisation period?
What information do you need to provide a quotation?
Typically, our mobilisation period is around one week, depending on workload and site requirements. We always aim to accommodate urgent requests where possible.
Typically, we require the following:
  • Quantity of doors (for Fire Door Surveys)
  • Floor plans or fire strategy drawings
  • The latest Fire Risk Assessment (FRA)
  • Full site address
Do you work on a day-rate basis?
Do you work in heritage buildings or with heritage doors?
Yes, we can offer day-rate inspections where a detailed scope or document set is not yet available. This option is often used for initial site reviews or phased projects.
Yes, we have extensive experience working in heritage and listed buildings, including the inspection and maintenance of heritage fire doors. Our approach ensures compliance without compromising the building’s historic integrity.
What is the difference between a Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) and a Fire Door or Firestopping Survey?
A Fire Door or Firestopping Survey, on the other hand, involves a comprehensive inspection of all fire doors and firestopping elements throughout the building. It identifies all issues in detail and includes recommendations for corrective actions. These surveys are typically carried out after the FRA, to address and rectify the issues highlighted.
A Fire Risk Assessment provides an overall overview of fire safety issues in a building and usually identifies examples of non-compliances — but it doesn’t include a detailed inspection of every door or penetrations, nor does it provide a full remedial plan.

Aleron Fire Protection was engaged to carry out comprehensive fire compartmentation and fire door surveys at Finzels Reach, a large mixed-use development in Bristol. The project aimed to assess and improve the building’s passive fire protection measures, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations and supporting the long-term safety of residents and occupants. Key objectives included identifying breaches in compartmentation, inspecting the condition and compliance of fire doors, and providing recommendations for remedial actions.
The scale of the development and the high number of residential units made access a key challenge. Coordinating surveys across multiple occupied flats required detailed planning, flexible scheduling, and ongoing communication with property management and residents to minimise disruption and ensure access wherever possible.
Finzels Reach – Block of Flats
Despite access constraints, Aleron successfully completed thorough compartmentation and fire door surveys. The client received a clear, actionable overview of compliance gaps, enabling informed decisions on necessary remedials and improved the building’s fire safety strategy
Aleron Fire Protection was commissioned to carry out a detailed heritage fire door survey at the Town Hall Hotel, a historic Grade II listed building in London. The project’s objective was to assess the condition, performance, and compliance of original timber fire doors while preserving their heritage character. The survey aimed to provide clear, evidence-based recommendations for remedial works in accordance with the Guide to the Fire Resistance of Historic Timber Panel Doors and other relevant heritage conservation standards.
Due to the listed status of the property, the inspection had to be entirely non-intrusive, requiring careful assessment of each door and its components without any physical alterations. The team also needed to interpret and apply complex heritage fire guidance to ensure accuracy and compliance while respecting conservation constraints. A comprehensive Fire Door Matrix was developed to evaluate each door against key criteria, including room volume, occupancy, combustible load, and surface flame spread, enabling a structured analysis of fire performance in a heritage context.
Town Hall Hotel – Heritage Doors
The survey was successfully completed within the required timeframe. Aleron provided the client with a clear and accessible report, including detailed fire door matrices and calculations that simplified complex fire performance data into an easy-to-understand format. The findings offered actionable recommendations tailored to the building’s unique heritage features, supporting informed decision-making and the ongoing safety of the hotel’s occupants.
Aleron Fire Protection was appointed by the Royal Academy of Music to carry out a comprehensive fire compartmentation survey. The project covered all floors of the Main Building as well as the entire York Gate Building. The objective was to identify breaches in compartmentation, assess the overall condition of existing firestopping measures, and provide clear recommendations to bring the buildings in line with current fire safety regulations and best practice standards.
The scale of the buildings posed a significant challenge, with extensive areas requiring detailed inspection. Existing firestopping, was often unlabelled, or incorrectly fitted. Restricted access in certain rooms, coupled with the age and historic significance of the premises, required careful planning and sensitive handling.
Royal Academy of Music
The survey was successfully completed across both sites, with all accessible and hidden areas inspected to the greatest extent possible. A clear and structured report was delivered to the client, containing a full set of recommendations and a concise summary of identified issues.
Aleron Fire Protection was commissioned by the Pilgrims’ Friend Society to carry out a comprehensive fire door survey at Strathclyde House Care Home. The scope included all floors of the Main Building and extended to tenant doors, ensuring a full review of every compartmentation line within the property. The primary aim was to establish the current condition and compliance status of all fire doors, highlight areas of risk, and provide clear, practical recommendations to ensure the building meets the latest fire safety requirements.
The project location in Scotland required additional planning and mobilisation. As the building operates as a care home, surveys had to be carefully scheduled and carried out in line with resident care routines, ensuring minimal disruption and safe access to private rooms.
The Maltings - Intrusive Survey
Despite the logistical and access challenges, the survey was completed efficiently and within the agreed timeframe. A clear report was issued to the client, containing detailed recommendations and a concise summary of findings, enabling the care home to plan necessary improvements with confidence.
